Digital Story 2 version 2
I chose to add my wife's laughter at the beggining of the video and fade it out as well as leaving it at the end so it kind of brings the story all together. Thanks for the suggestions!

Digital Story 2 Version 1
Here is my second digital story. It's about a letter I wrote to my wife (she was my girlfriend at the time) while I was at the Army Infantry Officer Basic Training Course at Fort Benning, Georgia in the fall of 1981. I used Soundbooth to record my narration and blend in some sound effects I recorded. I built the animation in Flash and then imported both the MP3 file and SWF files into After Effects to produce the .mov video file. Let me know what you think.

Digital Story 1 Version 2
Here is my updated version of my first digital story. I took the suggestions of so many of you and removed the headstone scene from the beginning. I can understand how you thought it was out of place with the rest of the video. I also took the suggestion to add a bit more time at "the moment" with more pause in the video and a different transition with a picture of my mother slowly fading away. Thanks for all of your inputs!

Digital Story 1 Version 1
I created this digital story using Soundbooth for the narration, Flash for the animation, and combined both files in After Effects to render the video.
This story is about the death of my mother and how it affected me. I want to start out by saying thanks to all of you who told me they were sorry for my loss. But this happen 32 years ago so the wounds aren’t really fresh. I guess the reason I told this story is because I’ve never really talked about it much over the years and this ended up being a good way to get some feelings out……me not being much of a touchy feely type of person. :)
The story turned out to be a bit longer than I anticipated; I guess I had a lot to say. I appreciate the feedback on my storyboards and incorporated some of the ideas such as cutting down on some pictures and just letting an image do the talking in some parts. I also liked the suggestion that Cindy had about looking at it from my mother’s point of view and is this the way she’d want me to remember her? For me this is more about my feelings of her leaving unexpectedly. I think in the next version I may incorporate looking at it from her point of view somehow.
